A new ELISA test that measures levels of active renin in human EDTA plasma has been available for inspection at Booth 819 at the 2015 AACC Annual Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo (Atlanta, GA, USA).

Measurement of levels of active renin in the blood is useful for diagnosing certain types of hypertension. DRG International (Springfield, NJ, USA) has produced a solid phase "sandwich" ELISA kit that is accurate in the range of 0.8 to 128 picograms per milliliter. The assay uses 50 microliters of EDTA plasma and requires about 3 hours and 15 minutes to perform.

The DRG Renin (Active) ELISA Kit can also effectively detect hypertension in pregnancy. Early discovery of hypertension in the expectant mother opens up a much more effective array of treatment methods for the patient.

“The DRG Renin (Active) ELISA Kit allows research laboratories to quickly and easily measure for renin,” said Dr. Cyril E. Geacintov, founder, president, and CEO of DRG International. “The accuracy of our test has made it the top choice of researchers in the field and its applications continue to grow.”
