Artificial intelligence (AI) dominated discussions on the opening day of WHX Labs at Dubai World Trade Centre, where international experts explored how AI-driven diagnostics are propelling the shift toward Healthcare 3.0 during the Laboratory Management track.

Anmol Kapoor, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of BioAro, led the conversation with a session titled “Bridging multiomics to clinical realities: Harnessing AI for delivering Healthcare 3.0.” He detailed how advanced analytics, genomics, and AI technologies are transforming laboratory medicine and redefining patient care.

Specializing in genomics, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technologies, BioAro has developed an integrated tool that merges AI-powered genomic analysis with medical records and interactive applications, generating comprehensive, end-to-end health profiles that support more informed clinical decision-making.

Healthcare 3.0 represents a shift toward predictive, personalized, and digitally enabled healthcare, with laboratories and diagnostics playing a central role in this transformation. Driven by advances in data analytics, AI, automation, and precision medicine, this new era prioritizes early detection, faster clinical decision-making, and more targeted treatments.

During his presentation, Dr. Kapoor traced the progression of healthcare models. He explained that Healthcare 1.0 relied on limited diagnostic capabilities, while the curruent phase, Healthcare 2.0 introduced imaging and digital record systems. Looking ahead, he said Healthcare 3.0 will usher in an era of continuous patient monitoring, AI-supported clinical decisions, and fully patient-centered care ecosystems.

“Healthcare 3.0 is more patient-centric and more personalized to you – to your DNA, your microbiome, and your epigenetics,” said Dr. Kapoor. “AI is critical because it enables pattern recognition and clinical interpretation across complex datasets, allowing care to be tailored to each individual patient.”

Dr. Kapoor’s session was one of several Technology and Innovation Spotlight sessions taking place at WHX Labs this week, which highlight emerging advancements in laboratory diagnostics from leading technology providers. The sessions showcase case studies and expert insights that demonstrate the practical impact and clinical value of new tests and diagnostic platforms.

The Technology and Innovation Spotlight sessions continue throughout the week at WHX Labs, covering additional topics such as novel research-use-only assays for neurodegenerative diseases, implementation science considerations in digitally enabled tuberculosis microscopy, and molecular diagnostic approaches for infections affecting the skin, hair, and nails.

Tom Coleman, Portfolio Director at Informa Markets, emphasized the event’s global significance: “As a global platform for the laboratory community, WHX Labs brings together innovators, technology providers, and healthcare leaders to examine how next-generation diagnostics, AI, and integrated digital ecosystems are shaping the future of healthcare and enabling more resilient, future-ready health systems.”

At the Laboratory Management Conference, Dr. Talkmore Maruta, Director of Programs at the African Society of Laboratory Medicine, addressed the session “Building resilient organizations through emergency preparedness.”

Drawing on lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Maruta highlighted the essential role diagnostics play in emergency response and stressed that strong leadership determines whether laboratories struggle, sustain operations, or successfully adapt during crises.

“For any effective pandemic response, you need to understand what is causing the outbreak,” said Dr. Maruta. “Laboratories play a critical role in informing interventions and ensuring health systems are prepared to respond.”

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, WHX Labs remains the region’s premier event dedicated to laboratory medicine and diagnostics. Taking place February 10–13, it runs alongside WHX at Dubai Exhibition Centre, together forming what organizers describe as the world’s largest healthcare event.

The event facilitates dealmaking, professional networking, and knowledge sharing, while addressing key challenges facing laboratory science. Held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, WHX Labs underscores the nation’s commitment to advancing world-class healthcare.
