Flexible connectivity options have been introduced that will simplify point-of-care (POC) urine analysis--data is integrated into electronic medical records, directly to laboratory information systems, or via POC data management systems.

The connectivity options of the new system enhance testing oversight and streamline data management for hospital and physician-office based urine testing. The Clinitek Status Connect System is clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA)-waived.

With the introduction of the new system, Siemens Healthcare (Erlangen, Germany) has expanded its POC urinalysis portfolio. The new features include barcode data entry; advanced operator management with operator lock-out to prevent unauthorized user access; quality control (QC) lock-out if quality controls fail or are not performed as programmed; and transmittal of operator name, patient ID, lot and expiration date with test results.

Siemens point-of-care data management system for urinalysis and blood gas testing, the RapidComm data management and connectivity solution, can also connect to the Clinitek Status Connect System, helping to streamline POC testing data further.

The Siemens Healthcare Sector is one of the world's largest suppliers to the healthcare industry and is a leader in laboratory diagnostics, medical imaging, medical information technology, and hearing aids. Siemens offers products and solutions for the entire range of patient care from a single source--from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, and on to treatment and aftercare.
