A newly opened group of health centers provides comprehensive blood tests, including risk-factor assessment for conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, as well as post-testing guidance and support services.

Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. More...
(HDL; Richmond, VA, USA), a leader in health management offering a comprehensive test menu of biomarkers of risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and related diseases, is taking the next step in its mission to detect, prevent, and reverse such chronic diseases with its launch of "My HDL Hub" health centers. In addition to testing, My HDL Hub services include group classes and lifestyle, nutrition, and fitness guidance with the company's clinical health consultants (CHCs). Five community Hubs have now opened, with plans to open additional centers.

"My HDL Hubs are not only a place to receive our comprehensive lab testing, but also a health community, a place to engage and take control of your health, and help you take steps to improve your life," said Tonya Mallory, HDL, Inc.'s cofounder, President, and CEO. These centers offer access points outside of traditional physician offices for individuals to receive HDL, Inc.'s advanced lab testing, which identifies biomarkers that disclose hidden risk factors that traditional testing may miss. Test results are also stoplight color-coded with red, yellow, and green, and some My HDL Hubs are staffed with CHCs who offer lifestyle recommendations to "move from red to green." Individuals receive a personalized overview of their risk factors along with counseling from expert CHCs, improving compliance and enhancing satisfaction. A CHC is generally assigned to each patient, providing the missing link between physician, lab, and patient. The CHC prescribes individualized diet and exercise plans, and maintains a dialogue with patients to boost their commitment and success.

HDL also offers access to an online portal and a free app for mobile phones. The app offers mobile-optimized lab results, fitness and nutrition tracking, integration with activity tracking tools, and privacy-protected text message-like communications with the company's CHCs. The CHCs also regularly update and converse online through a powerful social-media presence.

"My HDL Hubs and our health community offer convenient access to our comprehensive testing and health consulting along with a multitude of tools and expert advice that people can use to live healthier," said Ms. Mallory. HDL, Inc.'s CHCs – registered dietitians, exercise physiologists, and other certified health experts – also offer group classes, demonstrations, peer-to-peer support, and interactive lectures at Hubs throughout the day, "helping remove fears and anxieties people may have about their health and replacing those feelings with inspiration, activation, and education," added Ms. Mallory.

Through the My Health Counts program, HDL also offers its comprehensive testing and wellness services to employers, and works closely with health systems as part of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and other integrated care models. Participants in these services will have access to the My HDL Hubs as well.

HDL, Inc. is a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory.
