A new amended agreement has been announced between Quintiles Laboratories Asia (QLAB Asia, Peking, China) and Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH, China) that is designed to enhance central laboratory services in China.

The new agreement allows the facilities of the Quintiles central laboratory (QLAB Asia, Singapore) in China to operate under the same standardized processes, controls, and reporting mechanisms as other QLAB facilities. More...
This means that QLAB facilities in China will have dedicated rooms for specimen management and analytic testing, using Quintiles'core instruments and globally harmonized processes that follow global QLAB standard operating procedures and core quality standard. Quintiles Transnational (Research Triangle Park, NC, USA; www.quintiles.com) operates the largest and most comprehensive central lab testing facility in Asia at its Singapore base and has been providing lab services in China since 2003.

"We are excited that our new enhanced services will now allow our customers to participate in the growth of clinical trials in Asia, freed from the problems and difficulties of exporting blood products out of China,” noted Alan Ong, vice president and general manager, QLAB Asia. The Beijing facility will be managed by Susan Sun, who recently joined Quintiles. The company also announced that QLAB in China will apply for accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) by early 2006.

Currently, QLAB facilities in Singapore, Atlanta (GA, USA), Edinburgh (Scotland), and Pretoria (South Africa) are all CAP-certified. Quintiles Transnational has offices in 50 countries and is the world's leading pharmaceutical services organization.
