Siemens Building Expansion Enables a Billion Diagnostic Tests Annually

Siemens Healthcare (Malvern, PA, USA) celebrated completion of a 10,700-square meter facility expansion at its manufacturing facility in Walpole, Massachusetts (USA) on September 8, 2008. More...
The company invested more than US$100 million in the expansion, which has nearly doubled production capacity, enabling the annual production of over one billion diagnostic tests.

A ribbon-cutting event marked the opening of the company's expanded Walpole facility, which will help accommodate the growing demand for Siemens' diagnostic products and services. U.S. Senator John Kerry, Donal Quinn, CEO, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Jim Hughes, vice president and site leader for Siemens, as well as local dignitaries, state officials, and media, attended the event.

"Early and accurate diagnosis of disease, along with consistent monitoring of patient therapy are important components of high-quality medical care, that help save lives,” said Donal Quinn "The critical diagnostic tests that make early diagnosis possible are manufactured right here in Walpole and this expansion is an important step for Siemens Healthcare in providing the best possible products and service levels for our customers. We are grateful for the support and cooperation we receive from the town and the community.”
