DPC Acquires Rights to Sperm Analyzer

Exclusive distribution rights to a sperm analyzing system have been acquired by Diagnostic Products Corp. More...
(DPC, Los Angeles, CA, USA; www.dpcweb.com) from Medical Electronic Systems Ltd. (MES, Caesarea, Israel).

The analyzer, called SQA-V, is a low-cost system that utilizes electro-optics, computer algorithms, and video microscopy to provide rapid and reliable semen analysis in less than 75 seconds. The system can automatically adapt to accommodate fresh, frozen, and treated semen, and provides on-screen visualization, image freezing, Kruger and World Health Organization (WHO) criteria, and built-in archiving capabilities. The self-diagnostic quality controls ensure repeatable results, regardless of semen preparation or technician, says MES.

"We see the addition of the MES sperm analyzer as a strategic complement to our Immulite business in the fertility markets,” said Ira Ziering, vice president, international, DPC. "We are now able to offer the reproductive testing market the highest quality products relating to both male and female fertility.”
