Greiner Bio-One (Kremsmünster, Austria) exhibited its wide range of VACUETTE safety products at MedLab Middle East 2019 held in Dubai, UAE, from February 4-7, 2019. MedLab is the flagship exhibition and congress of the MedLab Series portfolio, a collection of leading laboratory and diagnostics exhibitions and conferences worldwide, spanning across the Middle East, Asia, East/West Africa, Europe and the US. The Medlab Series covers all disciplines in the laboratory department and provides a unique platform for the industry’s multi-level professionals to meet under one roof.

Needlestick injuries from contaminated puncture devices are the most common source of infection for diseases transmitted by blood or other bodily fluids and are still among the most common occupational accidents today. Greiner Bio-One Preanalytics has been developing a range of safety products to reduce the risk of contamination and needlestick injuries, providing protection against potential injury risks.

At MedLab Middle East 2019, Greiner Bio-One exhibited its VACUETTE safety blood collection sets, which are particularly suitable for blood collection from patients with difficult veins. An integrated safety mechanism that is already activated in the patient's vein provides even greater safety in the blood collection process. The VACUETTE safety blood collection sets are available in different needle sizes and tubing lengths.

Greiner Bio-One also displayed its VACUETTE QUICKSHIELD safety tube holder, which enables greater flexibility related to user and patient-specific requirements due to its rotating safety shield. Additionally, the holder’s ergonomic design provides the user with a better grip for puncturing. The safety shield can be activated either one-handed with the aid of a solid surface or simply with the thumb.
