Erba Mannheim (London, UK) showcased some of its exciting new introductions at MEDLAB Middle East 2021, the MENA region’s largest medical laboratory exhibition and congress, which took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 21-24 June.

Erba introduced the fully automated ELAN 30s, a complete solution for lab ELISA workflow that allows users to develop new, flexible analytical workflows by taking advantage of smart scheduling software. By combining up to six different assays in a single run users can break the traditional two or four plate mold and create ‘clinical panel’ based workflows. Multiple reporting formats enhance the final steps of the process and allow the user to report faster with more convenience.

Erba also exhibited its new hematology analyzers - the H360 automated 3 part differential analyzer and H560 automated 5 part differential hematology analyzer, alongside the Elite 580 automated 5-part hematology analyzer with continuous loading capacity. Also on display at this year’s MEDLAB Middle East 2021 edition was the LAURA XL fully automated urine analyzer that combines urine strip reading with digital microscopy. The two-module integrated station consists of one module which performs analysis of the chemical parameters of urine on diagnostic test strips using reflective photometry; and one module performs urinary sediment examination using automated microscopy technology in a format compatible with manual microscopy. In addition, Erba showcased the next generation electrolyte analyzer, EC 90 ISE, which employs cutting edge technology to take laboratory electrolyte measurements to new heights. The EC 90 electrolyte analyzer features next generation thick film, maintenance-free electrodes in all-in-one sensor cartridge.

Alongside these new products, the company presented the ErbaMDx SARS-COV-2 RT-PCR kit, a molecular diagnostic test that aids the detection and diagnosis of COVID-19 infections and is based on latest nucleic acid amplification technologies. It is a real-time reverse transcriptase PCR test that has been developed utilizing universally trusted priming sites with updated primer sequences to maximize long term performance.
