Foundation to Support Cell Transplant Research Launches Official Informational Web Site

A new Internet presence has been initiated that has been designed to increase awareness and further funding for stem cell transplant research.

The U.S. National Foundation to Support Cell Transplant Research (NFCTR; Louisville, KY, USA) has launched its official web site to promote and support adult stem cell transplant research. Founded in late 2005, the NFCTR promotes and funds peer-reviewed research and early stage clinical trials in the field of adult stem cell research. By supporting both collaboration and information-sharing in a number of strong academic settings, the NFCTR works to create networking opportunities that readily utilize and expedite the science.

The NFCTR believes that funding ground-breaking research in multiple qualified institutions has unlimited potential to further the field of adult stem cell transplantation and develop new treatments for a large number of diseases and conditions affecting people worldwide. "The potential for curative therapies afforded by adult stem cell research is extremely promising," stated Dr. Paula P. Grisanti, cofounder and chairman of the NFCTR, "and we are fully committed to supporting and funding this critical research. It is our hope that this new web site will help to increase public awareness and generate the support required to fund these important studies."

People worldwide--many of them children or young adults--may benefit from these promising adult stem cell therapies. "This research has far-reaching implications for the treatment of many types of disease," added board of directors member Dennis Riggs. "Success, even at a modest level, may ultimately affect a large number of people on every continent...perhaps a close friend or family member...or maybe even yourself. It touches everyone."

NFCTR was founded by a small group of individuals--each personally impacted by the potential for this critical research. Stem cell research has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of a large number of diseases and conditions affecting people worldwide.
