A European patent has been issue for a novel device that enables precise, straightforward absorbance and fluorescence-based measurements from sample volumes as low as two microliters.

The manufacturer, Tecan (Männedorf, Switzerland), maintains that its NanoQuant Plate's quartz optic array guarantees superior performance and a high rate of reproducibility for up to 16 samples. Designed specifically for use with Tecan's Infinite 200 NanoQuant instrument, this powerful tool is available for DNA/RNA quantification and quality control, providing reliable absorbance readings from as little as two microliters of sample, and can detect DNA concentrations as low as one nanogram per microliter.

NanoQuant incorporates flexible i-control software that allows creation of application-oriented measurement scripts using its drag-and-drop interface for effortless set-up of new protocols, which can be saved on the system for future use. Online data presentation provides immediate review and analysis of measurement data, with enhanced data management and straightforward export of data to Microsoft Windows-compatible formats.
